Drug maker Pfizer says that it is participating in the Trump Administration’s Operation Warp Speed, as Breitbart News reported Monday.
Breitbart News reported on Monday that Pfizer was participating in the Trump administration’s program, contrary to denials by Trump’s critics and a statement attributed to a company official.
“We were never part of the Warp Speed,” the New York Times claimed a Pfizer vice president, Kathrin Jansen, said.
The company says that was taken out of context.
The Spectator USA‘s Amber Athey reported on a follow-up statement.
“Pfizer is proud to be one of the various vaccine manufacturers participating in Operation Warp Speed as a supplier of a potential COVID-19 vaccine. While Pfizer did reach an advanced purchase agreement with the U.S. government, the company did not accept BARDA funding for the research and development process. Al the investment for R&D and manufacturing has been made by Pfizer at risk. Dr. Jansen’s comment, which was taken our of context, was just emphasizing that last point.” Full story here
